Evening Primroses
When was the last time you sat out in your garden with your eyes closed and took a deep breath? There is nothing better than capturing the complex layers of perfumes a garden can produce - and no better plant than the Evening Primrose.

Come darkness they erupt into a carnival of passion where light, shape and colour become irrelevant and fragrance is everything. The flowers, like a lily, hold blooms that are rich in pollen and bombard passersby with a sweet, spicy blend of perfumes
- Chris Beardshaw, TV gardener.

Bright bold flowers are carried on superb green foliage that is utterly hardy and fast growing. Evening Primrose is a native of well-drained soils of North- East America and is extremely easy to grow. Blooms in buttercup-yellow emerge in clusters on top of the willowy stems, which can reach 3-4ft, making them an ideal candidate for an informal barrier. Plant about 2ft apart to produce a fairly dense screen of foliage, or they can be planted in groups.
