Grow Royal Myrtle in your garden - as featured in
Kate Middleton’s wedding bouquet. Leaves of this deligthful aromatic plant were in Queen Victoria’s wedding flowers and have featured in royal bouquets ever since. This is evergreen True Myrtle, with sweet-scented cupshaped 5-starred white flowers, carrying golden stamens in summer; followed by purple berries. Used as a spice and for pot pourri, Myrtle makes a prized essential oil. In Sardinia, a fragrant liquer is made from the berries and leaves. In Greek mythology, Myrtle was sacred to the goddess
Aphrodite. The Romans bathed with crowns of Myrtle. Now, you can trim your
own Myrtle hedge or grow a delightful bush ( 70 x 40cm) to celebrate the
2011 Royal wedding. All parts of the plant are scented. £12.50 each; Add to Basket View Basket 3 plants for £25 Add to Basket View Basket |
